The Commercial Window Group’s structured network of regional installation partners is helping housebuilders overcome one of the biggest pressures facing the industry: labour shortages and variability in installation quality.
In its Construction Skills Network report for 2024 – 2028, the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) predicts that 251,500 extra workers will be required to meet UK construction output by 2028, accounting to 50,300 new recruits per year.
A shortfall in numbers of education leavers entering the industry, an ageing workforce and a lack of understanding of future skill requirements are among the issues contributing to the chronic labour shortages. Hampering the Government’s chances of meeting its ambitious 1.5 million homes target within five years, large-volume residential schemes are particularly affected.
As housebuilders feel the impact, delays, snagging, inconsistent workmanship and rising subcontractor rates are placing additional strain on already stretched build programmes.
“Labour shortages are a huge headache for developers, especially when it comes to consistent delivery on a national level, across multiple sites,” says Jody Vincent, Sales Director, Commercial Window Group.
“Project delays are increasingly common, with everything from planning processes to the weather having an impact on site progress. These things all eat into profit margins, so having a reliable supply of product and labour, up and down the country, is critical,” he adds.
Forging long-term partnerships with its network of trusted, regional installation specialists, the Commercial Window Group can reliably resource both product and labour for multi-site developments while maintaining quality and compliance.
Offering consistency combined with accountability, its local partners deliver predictable labour capacity and quality control, supported by the Group’s technical expertise, diligent checks and digital installation records. This enables housebuilders’ projects to run more smoothly, minimising the risk of delays, even across multiple regions.
“We operate to a scalable national model,” adds Jody. “While the local teams we work with are independent from each other, they are all fully qualified to produce work to the same, consistent standards, using a uniform, quality product range, across the country.
“Our network of reliable installers are all fully accredited and committed to the highest levels of professionalism, service and site safety, working in compliance with a range of SSIPs including Constructionline, SMAS, CHAS and CQMS.”

All windows and doors supplied by the Commercial Window Group are sustainably manufactured in-house, in the UK, by leading national fabricator, the Emplas Group. Its energy efficient products are fully compliant with UK building regulations, with the additional benefits of 12-months fixed pricing and full support at every stage of the project, including aftercare.
As a vertically integrated supplier, the Commercial Window Group has greater control over the whole manufacturing, distribution and after-sales process, significantly reducing the risk of delays.
“We’re a national supplier with a regional installation model offering area-specific expertise, which means we can offer our partners the best of both worlds,” continues Jody.
“We can provide that valuable local knowledge, backed by the clout of the Emplas Group, which is able to draw on its extensive resource as a UK-wide supplier.”
As the country continues to struggle with a shortage of both housing stock and construction labour, the Commercial Window Group’s regional model provides the consistency, reliability and quality workmanship to remedy both issues.
“As we move into 2026, market conditions are still tough, but we’re fully committed to delivering the best outcomes for the housebuilders, housing associations and social housing providers we partner with to create exceptional homes,” adds Jody.
“Our services are not just helping to get housing schemes built, but also helping our partners overcome the labour challenges that are often holding these projects back.
“Our national meets regional approach means you can rest assured that the quality of our products, services and the installation itself, will be exactly the same, whether your project is in Carlisle, Cornwall, or both.”
